Q. Pamela isn’t a therapist, counselor or psychiatrist. How is she providing consultations and grief workshops for others?

A. When Pamela’s qualifications to provide consultations and grief recovery workshops for adoptees are questioned, we confidently assert that she is a qualified mentor. Her extensive array of resources, recovery tools, and a lifetime of lived experiences are testament to her capabilities. These resources, coupled with her personal journey, make her a trusted guide for those adoptees seeking solace and guidance. Furthermore, Pamela’s role as a Grief Recovery Method Specialist® via The Grief Recovery Institute®, which does not require her to be a therapist or counselor, is underscored by her personal experiences. Pamela has seen therapist, psychiatrists, counselors, and even lay pastors during her lifetime, and none of them were equipped to help her navigate her grief and loss journey from her adoption experience. Unlike many professionals in the mental health field with limited training in grief recovery, Pamela’s personal journey equips her to assist other adoptees on their healing journey. Her lived experiences have endowed her with invaluable lessons and empathy, which can be just as, if not more, beneficial than traditional training for the adoptee community. Pamela’s mission is to provide support, guidance, validation, and understanding to those adoptees wrestling with grief and loss.
